This watercolor painting captures the Playa del Carmen Portal Maya (Mayan Gateway) beach statue.

Often referred to as the mermaid statue, it's a man on a wind column & a woman on a water column, joining hands.

This bronze sculpture is in Parque Fundadores (Founders Park) on the Riviera Maya near Cancun.

The design by sculptor José Arturo Tavares celebrates the end of the Mayan long count calendar. The 2 rings are features of the Juego de Pelota (ball court) of Mayan archaeological sites.

Visitors enjoy performances, food & craft vendors, a children's play area & swimming in the tropical ocean!
